A new parent’s guide to newborn photography sessions
The first few weeks after the arrival of a new baby are so special and fleeting. They are tiny newborns for such a brief moment. I love nothing more than to capture that special time for you to remember for ever.
Newborn sessions are different to other portrait photography sessions and there some really important tips and tricks that make them run smoothly and produce beautiful pieces of art featuring your new family.
The best time to book your newborn photography session is during your pregnancy - as early as possible. I book out quickly so planning ahead is important so we can guarantee a spot for you in those special first two weeks. When you first get in contact, we’ll make a tentative booking based on your due date. If your due date changes, just shoot me an email.
When your baby is born, let me know as soon as you can and we lock in a date within the first two weeks
When to book your newborn photography session
When is the best time to photograph your newborn?
Newborn photography sessions are best done in the first two weeks after your baby arrives - the best time is between 6 and 10 days old. Babies at this age are usually still sleepy and easy to settle. They are comfortable to be curled into those beautiful, sleepy womb-like poses.
If your baby is a little older, it will be more alert and less likely to sleep. We can still get beautiful shots though, they just may not be those curly, sleepy poses.
