FAQs

What should we wear?

Before your shoot, we have a chat about how you would like your images to look. During this chat, we talk about colours and styles for your photoshoot.

Clothes and styling are so important for the image to ensure we create the right feel and mood. Avoid prints, logos, patterns and flouro colours and for children, clothes with characters and distinct branding. Keeping things simple and classic are the best way to ensure a timeless image that you will be happy to have on your wall for many years.

Hair & Makeup

As with clothes, keep makeup simple. I have some wonderful hair and makeup artists that I can highly recommend. Keep children makeup free and make sure hair is freshly washed.

When will I see my images and then what?

You will see the images in 3 - 4 weeks. After the shoot I go through them and carefully select the best images to take to the editing stage. I then edit each image to ensure they are perfect. You are invited back to the studio to view your images and choose the photographs you wish to have printed or turned into beautiful artwork. You will have access to your digital images in a password protected digital gallery that you have access to for four weeks after your reveal. The gallery can be kept open for longer if you need more time to make selections for a small fee.

Can I just have all the images?

People often ask, “What about the rest of the images you shot on the day?”

I get asked this question a lot! Here are the answers:

Depending on the package your select, you will receive 7, 15 or 20 images - you can purchase more for a fee. During our session I will shoot many photographs of a variety of poses and setups. I then select the best images from each setup to create your artwork. I spend upwards of five hours editing each image - this sometimes includes evening skin tones, removing blemishes, enhancing the lighting and balancing the colours. Often, especially when shooting families or groups of children, I will comp together images in order to get everyone looking at the camera. Every image that I hand over has had hours of love put into it - it has been scrutinised at a pixel level. My style is often referred to as painterly and this can’t be achieved by snapping a few images and applying a filter.

Most photographers don’t release their unedited images. Like me, they consider the file that comes out of the camera the first step of a complicated artwork. It is important to me that all my images are of a consistent style and standard.

I shoot with a high quality professional level DSLR camera and in order to achieve the clear, crisp files large enough to print, my camera is set to capture my images in a super high resolution, very large file format that is useless before they go through my process.

Before our shoot, we will have a consultation to discuss colours and styling to ensure that you are as in love with the final artwork as you could possibly be.
